Service Action: Key Fob Replacement
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
XJ (X351) VIN: V36314-V41896 (specific USA vehicles only)

CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
To improve customer satisfaction and ensure 2013 model year Jaguar XJ vehicles are equipped with the very latest components, a limited number of vehicles within the listed VIN range require two new-style compact key fobs.
NOTE:
When updating customer vehicles, make sure both key fobs are available prior to commencing the Repair Procedure. In the event only one key is presented with the vehicle, advise customers that:
1. Other older key fobs will no longer function.
2. The emergency key blade must be transferred from the original key fob to one of the new key fobs.
Action:
Retailers are required to before sale HOLD all affected vehicles in the above VIN range that are in their control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all existing keys are available, outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified, and sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns is allocated.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
CAUTION:
Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.
CAUTION:
A Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS diagnosis / module programming.
1. Connect the Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.
2. Turn ignition 'ON' (engine not running).
3. NOTE: IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD131.07 v.118 or later.
Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.
5. From the Session Type selection screen, choose 'Campaigns'.
6. Place existing keys outside the vehicle as they are no longer necessary and will be erased.
7. NOTE: All previous key programming will be lost.
Run Security - "JD Power campaign" key replacement option.
^ When presented, the number of old keys to program must remain 0 (zero).
8. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.
9. Exit the current session.
10. Disconnect the IDS and the Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.
11. NOTE: Remove the battery from the old key fob and dispose / recycle responsibly. Disable the key fob prior to disposal.
Remove the emergency key blade and battery from both original key fobs.
^ Properly dispose of each battery; disable and discard both original key fobs.
12. Install the emergency key blade into each new key fob.
^ If previously programmed key fobs were not available, demonstrate to the customer how to transfer the emergency key blade from the original key fob to the new key fob.
