Intermittent Sticking Of Switches - Upper Center Console - Repair
Issue:
On some 2004 MY XJ range vehicles within the above VIN range, customers may experience intermittent sticking of the switch pack in the upper section of the center console.
This condition is caused by excessive pressure applied to the buttons due to contact between the center console and the switch pack bezel.
A new modified switch pack for the upper center console is now available to rectify this concern.
Action:
In case of a verified customer complaint of the above condition on a 2004 MY XJ range vehicle within the above VIN range, replace the switch pack as described below:
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the instrument panel console (see Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM, section: 501-12, SRO 88.20.34).
2. Remove the two center console upper switch pack securing screws.
3. Remove the upper switch pack.
4. Install and align the new upper switch pack.
5. Install and tighten the two upper switch pack securing screws.
6. Install the instrument panel console (see Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM, section: 501-12, SRO 88.20.34).
