Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Fault codes are stored automatically within the SRS contol module and may be accessed, as an aid to fault diagnosis. Jaguar Diagnostic Equipment (PDU) is required to carry out these procedures.

In certain markets (USA) blink codes are provided at the airbag interrogation socket. These codes can be read using JD 205 Harness and Lamp. This is tool should never be used in preference to the PDU.

The diagnostic connector in the bottom edge of the driver's side fascia provides the interface between the vehicle and the Jaguar PDU.

A generic scan tool communicates only with the control modules connected to the ISO 9141/2 network, for the retrieval of any DTC they contain. The SRS module is not on the ISO network.

The PDU communicates with the control modules connected to the CAN, the SCP or the ISO 9141/2 network (only the CAN network is used to communicate with the ECM), for:
^ the retrieval of DTC
^ fault diagnosis
^ control module programming
^ the enabling/disabling of system feature options.
