Fuel Injector: Description and Operation
The eight fuel injectors are located in individual apertures in the intake manifold. The fuel rail is separate and supplies fuel to the top of each injector. Air injection is provided to the base of each injector to further improve fuel delivery and atomization. Air is provided by an air gallery which is integral with the intake manifold. The fuel injectors are electromagnetic solenoid valves controlled by the ECM. The electrical pulse time for the injector combined with the fuel pressure determines the volume of fuel injected to the manifold.
