XK -2001 MY factory-equipped with Paris wheels - VIN range to A18372

Any vehicle dealer-equipped with 20-inch R-Performance wheels

Issue:

Following evaluation of Jaguar's fleet of XK vehicles, it has been noticed that a large proportion of those equipped with 20-inch wheels and tires have evidence of some cosmetic damage to either wheel, tire, or both.

As part of our development program, Pirelli has released a new tire for vehicles equipped with 20-inch wheels. These new tires incorporate several enhancements including an additional external protection band that improves resistance to minor impact damage. Another feature of the new tire is that it is of a mono-ply construction that differs from the previous tire.

Pirelli does not recommend the mixing of the old and new versions of these tires on the same vehicle.

Stocks of the old tire have almost been exhausted and superseded to the new tire. Therefore, in the event of damage being present, or a puncture for example, the customer would be required to purchase a complete vehicle set of tires.

Action:

Customer Relationship Center representatives will be contacting operators of the vehicles and asking them to contact local dealer and arrange for the installation of new tires. At that time, the dealer will apply a new tire pressure label to the underside of the console lid and place stickers in the Quick Guide and the Vehicle Care Handbook.

If the vehicle arrives at the dealership before notification, please arrange the exchange of all four old specific tires to the later specification on a free of charge basis, using the Pirelli exchange program detailed in this bulletin. This will avoid the customer having any inconvenience in in the event of damaging his tires in any way.

If there is evidence damage to the wheels, refer the customer to the wheel exchange program currently in operation that provides favorable rates for replacing damaged wheels. Refer to USA Parts Information Bulletin A-05, dated 2/01 (USA dealers only).

Note:
All four tires on the vehicle must be changed. New specification tires must be mounted in vehicle sets. Tires cannot be mixed even in axle sets.

The specification of the tire is identified on the sidewall as shown.

The new Pirelli 20-inch tires will be made available from Pirelli, on a free of charge basis. Pirelli will supply 4 tires,
