Relay Lever



Removal

CAUTION: Replacement of nuts and bolts: Various thread-locking devices are used on nuts and bolts throughout the vehicle. These devices restrict the number of times a nut or bolt can be used.

1. Position vehicle on a four-post lift.

2. Make sure parking brake is fully released.





3. Remove equalizer.
- Remove adjustment nut.
- Remove equalizer from adjustment rod and cable.
- Remove damper.





4. Release front parking-brake cable from relay-lever fork.

CAUTION: Be aware of the spring torsion when removing components from the relay lever.





5. Remove components to access relay lever.
- Remove bolts.
- Unhook return spring and remove tie strap.
- Collect bush from relay lever.
- Remove lower return spring.
- Remove relay lever.
- Remove upper return spring.





6. Remove components from relay lever.
- Remove clip and clevis pin.
- Remove adjuster -mechanism fork.
- Remove clip and clevis pin.
- Remove front-cable fork.

7. Clean components and mating surfaces.

Installation

NOTE: Make sure return-spring legs are located correctly after installation.

NOTE: Apply grease to clevis pins and relay lever.

1. Installation is reversal of the removal procedure.





2. Tighten bolts.
- Tighten bolts to 22 - 28 Nm.

3. Adjust parking-brake cable.
