Wind Noise, Water Leaks, Split Door Seal - Door Glass Height - Check/Adjust Procedure

Issue:

This bulletin describes a method of checking the height of the door glass. Incorrect height adjustment can cause wind noise, water leaks, or splitting of the door seal in the area of the cheater.

Action:

To check the door glass height, and if required, adjust the door glass regulator stop adjuster, follow the workshop procedure outlined below.

Note:
Any repairs or adjustments other than that outlined in the Workshop Procedure below must be carried out as a separate Warranty Claim.

CHECK DOOR GLASS HEIGHT

1. Switch the ignition "ON".

2. With the door closed, operate door glass to the fully closed position.

3. An observer outside the vehicle should view glass height with reference to the feature line on the A-post finisher, the glass and the feature line should align as shown by the arrows (Illustration 1).

ADJUST DOOR GLASS HEIGHT

If the door glass is out of position, adjust the door glass regulator stop adjuster:

1. Remove door trim panel for access (see Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM section: 501-05, SRO 76.34.01).

2. Remove door weather-shield.

3. Make a small cut in the clear plastic shedder for access to the door glass regulator stop adjuster (Illustration 2).

4. Connect door glass switch pack to electrical connector.

5. Operate door glass to the fully open position.

6. Loosen door glass regulator stop adjuster securing screw.

7. Reposition door glass regulator stop adjuster.

Note:
Sliding the door glass regulator stop adjuster towards the front of the vehicle lowers the glass height. Sliding the door glass regulator stop adjuster towards the rear of the vehicle raises the glass height.

8. Tighten door glass regulator stop adjuster securing screw to 12 Nm.

9. Operate door glass to the fully closed position.

10. View glass height with reference to the feature line on the A-post finisher (Illustration 1).

11. If the door glass is still out of position repeat steps 5 to 10 until the door glass is in the correct position.

12. When the door glass is properly adjusted, continue with setting the anti-trap feature.

SETTING THE DOOR GLASS ANTI-TRAP FEATURE

1. Operate door glass to the fully open position and hold switch for a few seconds until a sound is heard.

2. Operate door glass to the fully closed position and hold switch for a few seconds until a sound is heard.

3. Switch ignition OFF.

4. Disconnect the door glass switch pack from the electrical connector.

5. Fix a suitable cloth tape to cover small cut previously made in the clear plastic shedder.

6. Install door weather shield.

7. Install door panel (see Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM section: 501-05, SRO 76.34.01).
