Workshop Procedure

1. Open luggage compartment.

2. Fit fender protector covers.

3. Remove battery cover.

4. Record customer preferences and disconnect vehicle battery.

WARNING:
AFTER THE BATTERY HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED, WAIT ONE MINUTE FOR THE AIR BAG SYSTEM TO DISARM.

5. Remove luggage compartment floor carpet.

6. Remove luggage compartment front liner.

7. On XJ series only, remove luggage compartment seal retainer.

8. On XK series only, remove luggage compartment rear liner.

9. On XJ series only, remove luggage compartment left side liner.

10. On XK series only, remove luggage compartment right side liner.

11. On all vehicles, remove audio unit stack assembly to body securing screws.

12. On XK series with premium sound only, disconnect audio unit amplifier connectors.

13. On XK series with premium sound only, disconnect navigation module DIN plug from amplifier.

14. On all vehicles, place suitable protective covering over luggage compartment floor area.

15. On XK series with premium sound only, route navigation DIN lead around body bracket.

16. On all vehicles, reposition Audio unit assembly to allow access.





17. Disconnect navigation module antenna lead plug (Illustration 1).

18. Examine plug and socket to ensure serviceability.

19. Reconnect navigation module antenna lead plug.

20. On XK series with premium sound only, route navigation DIN lead around body bracket.

21. On all vehicles, reposition audio unit stack assembly.

22. On XK series with premium sound only, connect audio unit amplifier connectors.

23. On XK series with premium sound only, connect navigation module DIN plug.

24. On all vehicles, insert and tighten audio unit stack assembly to body securing screws.

25. Remove protective covering from luggage compartment floor.

26. Install luggage compartment sideliner.

27. On XJ series only install luggage compartment seat retainer.

28. On XK series only install luggage compartment rear liner.

29. On all vehicles, install luggage compartment front liner.

30. Install luggage compartment floor carpet.

On XK series convertible vehicles only

^ Reposition front seat back rests forward for access.

^ Reposition rear edge of parcel~ tray carpet for access.

On XK Series coupe vehicles only

^ Remove rear seat cushion.

^ Remove rear seat back rest.

^ Remove coat hanger hook

^ Remove rear quarter trim panel.

^ On vehicles equipped with premium sound only, remove rear sub- woofer speaker.

^ Remove rear parcel tray.

On XK series vehicles only

^ Remove tape securing navigation antenna connector and lead to body.








^ Disconnect antenna fly lead plug. (Illustration 2 for Convertible vehicles) (Illustration 3 for Coupe vehicles).

^ Examine plug and socket to ensure serviceability.

^ Reconnect antenna fly lead plug.

^ Using suitable tape, secure antenna connector and lead to body.

On XK Series convertible vehicles only

^ Install rear edge of parcel tray carpet.

On XK Series coupe vehicles only

^ Install rear parcel tray.

^ On vehicles equipped with premium sound only, reinstall rear sub- woofer speaker.

^ Install rear quarter trim panel.

^ Install coat hanger hook.

^ Install rear seat back rest.

^ Install rear seat cushion.

^ Reposition front seat back rests to original positions.

On V8 XJ Series vehicles only

^ Remove rear heel boards.

^ Remove rear seat cushion.

^ Remove rear safety belt esctcheon.

^ Remove rear seat back rest.

^ Remove rear parcel tray.





^ Disconnect antenna fly lead plug (Illustration 4).

^ Pivot antenna lead socket about its body fixing to allow examination.

^ Examine plug and socket for serviceability.

^ Pivot antenna lead socket about its body fixing to allow reconnection.

^ Connect antenna fly lead plug. Install rear parcel tray.

^ Install rear seat back rest.

^ Install rear safety belt esctcheon.

^ Install rear seat cushion.

^ Install rear heel boards.

On all vehicles complete the following procedures:

1. Carry out battery reconnection procedure:

whether one, or both, cables are disconnected, a minimum of 30 seconds MUST elapse between disconnection of the FIRST cable & reconnection of the LAST cable. A clean final connection must be made; do not allow temporary contact. Connect the battery terminals.

2. Reset customer preferences and reinstall battery cover.

3. Remove protective covering from luggage compartment floor.

4. Remove fender protector covers.

5. Close luggage compartment. Reset the clock.
