Navigation System - Demo Mode - Activation/Deactivation
Remove and destroy Bulletin 419-07, dated 10/98. Replace with this Bulletin which applies to NAS vehicles.
Issue:
Demo Mode enables the user to demonstrate the navigation system to customers without driving the vehicle to the input destination. While the system is in demo mode you can input a destination and the system will show the vehicle icon maneuvering towards the destination along with audible instructions. Before vehicle handover to the customer, Demo Mode should be deactivated so that the system resumes normal functionally.
Jaguar Product Investigation has received reports of the vehicle navigation system locked in the Demo Mode.
Action:
The following instructions can be used to activate this function.
V8 XJ SERIES:
1. In the navigation menu, select "Destination" and push ENTER (E, Illustration 1).
2. Once in the destination menu, push MODE + EJECT simultaneously to enter Diagnostic Menu. This takes you to Diag. Menu (1/2). Move the cursor to "Next" and push ENTER to go to "Diag. Menu (2/2).
3. Now select "Start Demo". This will restart the system.
4. Enter your destination, as you would normally do. Once the route is calculated, the system will automatically begin to "drive" towards the destination. After reaching your destination, the system will take you back to your start point and begin recalculating the route again.
5. To stop the Demo, you have to go back into the Diagnostic Menu and ENTER "Demo Stop".
XK SERIES
1. While in the navigation menu, push REPEAT - SCALE DOWN - CLEAR in this sequence to enter the Diagnostic Menu.
2. Once in the Diagnostic Menu, select "Demo Start" and push ENTER (D, Illustration 2). This will restart the system.
3. Input your destination, as you would usually do. Once the route has been calculated, the system will automatically begin to "Drive" the vehicle icon on the map towards the destination. Once the system reaches your destination, it will loop back to the beginning of the journey and calculate the route again.
4. To stop the Demo, you have to go back into the Diagnostic Menu and ENTER "Demo Stop".
Note:
Updated software map disc part number LJD-2441GC has been introduced on later model vehicles. If this disc is tested in an earlier vehicle, it will update the vehicle's navigation module so that demo mode will be available even with the earlier version software, P/N LJD-2441GB. Some vehicles have already been shipped with the new software. This software does not contain any major map revisions. The Demo Mode should only be used to demonstrate the navigation system to customers.
