Shift Cable: Service and Repair



Selector Cable Assembly
Removal
1. Position the selector to N.
2. Remove the J-gate surround.
3. Remove the console finisher veneer panel.
4. Remove the center console assembly.
5. Raise the vehicle for access.





6. Detach the selector cable from the transmission unit.
Remove the cable inner to selector lever nut.
Remove the cable to transmission casing fixings.





7. Reposition the selector cable.
8. Remove the LH front seat, refer to Body and Frame.
9. Reposition the LH floor carpet for access.





10. Remove the selector cable to tunnel clip tie strap.





11. Detach the selector cable from the gear shift assembly.
Remove the inner cable to shift lever nut.
Slacken the outer cable locknuts.





12. Push the outer cable grommet through the transmission tunnel aperture.





13. Remove the selector cable assembly from the vehicle.

Installation





1. Assemble the cable to the gear shift assembly.
Locate the outer cable.
Fit and tighten the cable securing nut to the specified torque figure.





2. Connect the selector cable to the transmission.
Fit the bolts which secure the cable to the transmission casing and tighten to the specified torque figure.
Fit and tighten the inner cable securing nut to the specified torque figure.





3. Secure the outer cable.
4. Adjust the selector cable in accordance with Select Cable Adjust.
5. Further installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
