Intermediate Muffler Assembly (SC) (Left-hand)
Removal
1. Raise the vehicle on a four-post ramp.
2. Raise the rear of the vehicle body and support on two stands, located under the rear jacking points.
3. Disconnect the intermediate muffler from the rear muffler.
- Slacken the securing clamp, rear muffler to intermediate muffler and separate the intermediate muffler from the rear muffler.
4. Remove the intermediate muffler.
- Slacken the securing clamp, front muffler to intermediate muffler and separate the intermediate muffler from the front muffler.
5. Remove the muffler assembly from the axle carrier and from the over-axle mounting rubber.
6. Clean and inspect all exhaust joints.
Installation
1. Fit the intermediate muffler assembly.
- Fit the muffler assembly to the axle carrier and to the over-axle mounting rubber.
2. Locate the intermediate muffler to the front muffler.
3. Correctly position the intermediate muffler at the front muffler to align the correct reference / index indicator ring.
- Tighten the clamp, intermediate muffler to front muffler.
4. NOTE: If necessary, loosen and rotate the intermediate muffler, at the front to intermediate muffler joint, to achieve the tailpipe trim settings. Refer to Specifications.
Correctly position the rear muffler assembly.
- Connect the rear muffler to the intermediate muffler and insert to the Nominal indicator ring, rotating back and forth to aid engagement.
- Check that the mounting is located correctly into the mounting rubber.
- Check that the tailpipe position is within the specified settings, adjusting engagement within the Maximum and Minimum indicator rings if necessary. Refer to Specifications.
5. Tighten the securing clamp, intermediate muffler to rear muffler.
6. Remove the axle stands from beneath the rear jacking points.
7. Lower the ramp.
