PAS Pump Drive Pulley Bolts - Check Torque - Service Action S462

Remove and destroy Bulletin 303-27 dated 6/98. Replace with this Bulletin.

This Service Action has been reissued due to low completion rates. The warranty information has been reformatted to DDW format.

Issue:

On some 1998 & 2001 MY vehicles within the above VIN ranges, the three bolts that retain the pulley of the power assisted steering (PAS) pump to the pump shaft may not have been fully tightened.

Action:

Check the torque of the pulley bolts at the next dealer visit or the earliest service opportunity.

NOTE:
Always perform a DDW claim search first to determine whether this service action has been performed on this vehicle. The "Review Claim History" function will provide a listing of all claims against the vehicle. If this service action number appears in the program code field, do not perform this service action.

PROCEDURE

1. Open the hood and cover the fender.

2. With a torque wrench set to 24 Nm (17.7 lb ft), and a suitable drive socket, check and, if necessary, tighten the three bolts that retain the power assisted steering pump pulley.

3. Remove the fender cover and close the hood.

Warranty Information:

Warranty claims should be submitted quoting program code S462 together with the relevant option code from the table. This will result in payment of the appropriate time to check and tighten the power steering pump pulley bolts.

The option that allows for drive in/drive out must only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back to the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.

Always perform a DDW claim search first to determine whether this service action has been performed on this vehicle. The "Review Claim History" function will provide a listing of all claims against the vehicle. If this service action number appears in the program code field, do not perform this service action.
