Monitoring Procedure
The diagnostic checks for a crank sensor pulse during engine cranking and normal running.
During cranking, should no output be present, a counter is started. Battery voltage is then checked to determine that it is above a set threshold; if this threshold is exceeded the starter is deemed to operating correctly. When the counter set value is exceeded and the battery voltage has increased (starter not operating) a failure judgement is made.
At engine speeds in excess of 1000 rpm the 30° crank angle time counter is checked A normal judgement is made if the counter is below a set threshold. If the counter is above, a failure judgement is made.
NOTE: A rationality check is made against the camshaft position sensor P1336.
