Fuel Pump: Service and Repair



Removal

WARNING: BEFORE PROCEEDING, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ARE READ AND UNDERSTOOD. Service Precautions

1. Remove the fuel tank. Service and Repair
Do not install the fuel level sender unit, at this stage.
2. Tape back the insulation pads on top of the tank, to gain access to the evaporative loss flange.





3. Release the hose clip and disconnect the breather hose from the evaporative loss flange. Slide the hose along the pipe.





4. Remove the evaporative loss flange from the tank.
Remove the locking ring from the evaporative loss flange using tool 412-070.
Reposition the flange from the tank.





5. Remove the evaporative loss flange from the tank.
Disconnect the fuel pump electrical link lead.
Remove the flange and the flange to tank seal. Discard the seal.





6. Release the fuel pump mountings.
Slide the lower mounting outwards to release it from the retaining bracket.
Unhook the upper mounting rubber from the retaining bracket.
Reposition the pump to the outside of the tank, through the evaporative loss flange aperture.





7. Disconnect the outlet hose from the fuel pump.
Release and reposition the hose clip.
Disconnect the hose from the pump and place the pump aside.





8. Disconnect the electrical link lead from the fuel pump.





9. Remove the mounting rubbers from the fuel pump.
Remove the lower mounting rubber.
Remove the cable tie which secures the upper mounting.
Remove the upper mounting rubber.


Installation
1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
- Install a new sealing ring to the evaporative loss flange.
- Install the fuel level sender unit.
