Data Stream Information - Access Modes

Overview
There are seven (7) access modes through which data may be extracted from the ECM via the J 1962 connector using the relevant scanner.
1. Request current powertrain diagnostic data
2. Request powertrain freeze-frame data.
3. Request emission related powertrain diagnostic trouble codes.
4. Clear/reset emission related diagnostic information.
5. Request oxygen sensor monitoring test results.
6. Request on-board monitoring test results for non continuously monitored systems.
7. Request on-board monitoring test results for continuously monitored systems.

NOTE: Modes 3, 4 & 7 are fully supported in the mandated format in accordance with SAE J1979. For modes 3 & 7 please refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions where diagnostic trouble codes are listed both by system and as a numeric index.
