A. Heater Performance Test
Applies to all vehicles in VIN range 001036-0059571. With the transmission selector lever in P or N, run the engine at approximately 2000 rpm until the coolant reaches normal operating temperature.
2. Press red arrow on the climate control system panel repeatedly until display changes to HI. Turn the fan knob clockwise until the fan speed bar graph shows the maximum fan speed.
3. Move the left seat fully to the rear.
4. Place the probe of an electronic thermometer in the left side footwell outlet duct (Illustration 1). Make sure that the probe is in the air stream and not touching the duct.
5. Maintain the engine speed at 2000 rpm with the transmission selector lever in P or N and allow the temperature reading to stabilize.
If the reading is less than 40°C (104°F), the coolant flow is unsatisfactory. Continue with steps 6-9 and then refer to procedure B, Chemical Flushing Procedure.
If the reading is greater than 40°C (104°F), the coolant flow is satisfactory. Continue with steps 6 -9 and then refer to procedure C, Coolant Flushing Procedure.
6. Shut off the engine and move the seat back to original position.
7. Open the hood and install fender covers.
8. Remove the filler cap from the coolant header tank.
