Cautions and Warnings
CAUTION: It is most important to understand that franchised dealers with PDU have the ability to retrieve ALL stated codes. Non franchised dealers, using generic scan tools however, may NOT see codes which do not relate to an OBD II failure i.e where N appears in the MIL column below.MIL & Other Warning Logic
The operating "logic" of the MIL - illumination of MIL (CHECK ENGINE lamp) is dependent upon the particular diagnostic and the number of drive cycles in which a failure may be detected. Where "T" is shown this requires a failure to be detected on two separate driving cycles.
In certain instances "other warnings" may be observed, either prior to, or simultaneously with the MIL. These indications may be represented as;
- Red or Amber general warning.
- Displayed information in the speedometer located Message Center.
Unlike the MIL, the majority of other warnings will be flagged within a single driving cycle and will nominally occur as soon as a fault is detected.
NOTE: Illumination of the MIL following a fault is currently only applicable in OBD legislative markets, that is USA and Canada.
