A. Checking Serial Number of Final Drive Unit

*The following initial check applies to all XK8 vehicles within the VIN range 001531-006306 plus the specific vehicles in the list at the end of this bulletin. Vehicles must be rechecked.*

1. Raise the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

2. Determine the serial number of the final drive unit which is stamped on the vertical face on the right hand side of the final drive unit housing, facing toward the rear. It can be seen from the rear of the vehicle, located 75 mm (3 inches) to the right of the oil filler level plug.





The serial number is in the format.





*3. If the serial number is 96 H 1033 or earlier, or 96 M 1185 or later, no further action is required. Lower the lift. The vehicle may be returned to the customer.*
