ISSUE:

As the result of a low incidence process concern at a supplier, the final drive bearing circlip on a small number of XK8 vehicles within the above VIN range could become dislodged under extreme driving conditions. This could cause the output shaft to separate from the final drive unit.

The concern does not exist on vehicles with VINs before 001531 or after 006306 on.

ACTION:

Check all XK8 vehicles within the above VIN range for the condition of the circlip and repair, if necessary, as described an the following pages. Vehicles that have been checked are marked with a yellow paint dot over the final drive unit serial number.
