Controller Area Network (CAN)
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) is an integral part of the CAN system which facilitates the interchange of real-time data between control modules and sensors.

Rotary Switch

The rotary switch:
- Is mounted on the right-hand side of the transmission casing, by means of a locating pin and two bolts.
- Has a 12-way connector on a flying lead; refer to Connector Pins Identification.
- Is operated by the gear selector lever, via the Bowden cable and transmission selector shaft.
- Passes driver requests for gearshift selection to the transmission control module.
- Requires no adjustment or setting procedure.
- Provides the start-inhibit function to the engine control module, which does not allow the engine to start unless the selector lever is in Park or Neutral.
