Wind Noise at A Posts - Inject Foam in A Post - Procedure

Issue:

Some 1997 MY-ON XK8 vehicles may exhibit excessive wind noise. The noise may be from the A posts. The noise generated within the hollow A posts can be eliminated by filling the posts with the foam specified in this bulletin.

Action:

In case of a customer complaint of excessive wind noise on a 1997 XK8 vehicle, fill the A posts with the specified foam as follows:

A POST MODIFICATION PROCEDURE

1. Raise the vehicle on a lift.

2. Remove the front wheels.





3. Remove the front wheel well liners for access (Illustration 1).

4. Identify the square hole in the A post assembly at each side (Illustrations 2 and 3).

5. Using suitable equipment and an approved foam generating material, inject the foam into the A post assembly at both sides.

6. Clean off any surplus foam.

7. Reinstall the front wheel well liners.

8. Reinstall the front wheels and lower the vehicle.
