Towing Eye Locations - Blanking Plugs

Issue:





Beginning with VIN 007017, push-fit blanking plugs (Illustration 1) are included with the vehicle in the luggage compartment. When the towing eyes are removed, these plugs must be installed in the towing eye openings to prevent the entry of road dirt. The plugs will keep the threads clean to allow easy installation of the towing eyes if necessary.

Action:
Advise the customer at delivery of the following:

^ A towing eye is included in the luggage compartment with the jack and lug wrench.

^ The blanking plug will have to be removed in case a towing eye needs to be installed.

^ The blanking plugs are a push-fit in the towing eye locations.

Blanking plugs can be installed on vehicles prior to VIN 007017 at customer expense since they represent a change in vehicle specification.
