Operation

The IAT sensor, which is mounted in the air flow meter housing, measures the incoming air temperature and inputs the ECM. The sensor is negative temperature coefficient i.e. resistance decreases as temperature rises. This component is NOT serviceable, necessitating the renewal of the MAF meter assembly should a fault occur.

The ECM will substitute a default value equal to 50°C should this sensor fail.
