Electronic Throttle Body Description

Description
The electronic throttle assembly, in response to signals from both the driver and the ECM, adjusts idle speed, driver throttle pedal demand, cruise and traction control, power limitation and catalyst warm-up.

Features:
- Conventional cable operated input shaft connected to the accelerator pedal.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to renew or adjust the throttle cable without consulting the relevant repair procedure. Two conditions apply: Throttle Cable/Linkage renew, fitting a NEW cable and Electronic Throttle Body renew, reconnecting an ORIGINAL cable. Service and Repair

- Mechanical guard to limit throttle angle should driver demand exceed ECM controlled parameters and a mechanical back-up in the event of a throttle motor failure.
- Vacuum actuator for operation of the mechanical guard in cruise control mode.
- Throttle valve (blade) to regulate air flow into the engine.
- Thermostatic air valve to allow and control air by-pass around the throttle.
- DC electric motor to operate the throttle in response to ECM control.
- Three (3) sensors to relay positional information to the ECM of the input shaft (accelerator pedal), mechanical guard and the throttle valve.
- Return and control springs fitted to the input shaft, mechanical guard, throttle valve and dc motor drive gear.
