Coolant Drain Plug: Description and Operation

Two core plugs, each with its retainer, sealing washer and flanged plug, are installed at the rear of the engine block.

A pipe plug with micro-encapsulated sealer is fitted into the front face of the block behind the water pump.

On the left-hand-side of the engine block at the rear, a flanged plug with its sealing washer is fitted. This is the coolant drain plug.

On vehicles with the cold-climate package, the drain plug is replaced by a cylinder-block heater.
