Procedures

DRAIN
1. Open the engine compartment and fit paintwork protection sheets.
2. Ensure that the cooling system is cool and very carefully, remove the pressure cap from the header tank.
3. Raise the vehicle.





4. Drain the coolant.
^ Place a coolant drain tray on the floor, below the radiator drain plug.
(1) Remove the radiator drain plug. and allow the coolant to drain.





REFILL
1. Install the radiator drain plug.
(1) Remove the seal from the drain plug. and clean the plug face.
^ Install a new seal and refit the plug to the radiator.
^ Clean any coolant from the underside of the vehicle. Remove the drain tray.

2. Lower the vehicle.





3. Refill the cooling system.
(1) Remove the breather cap.
(2) Fill the cooling system at the header tank until the level stabilizes at the top of the breather neck.





4. Install a new seal to the breather cap.
(1) Remove the seal retaining ring from the cap.
(2) Remove the seal from the cap.
^ Install and fully seat the new seal to the cap, and secure with the retaining ring..
^ Install and tighten the breather cap.
^ Top-up as necessary, to the neck of the header tank.

5. Start the engine and allow the coolant to circulate around the system. Top-up the coolant as necessary.





6. Install new seals to the pressure cap.
(1) Remove both O-rings from the pressure cap.
^ Install and fully seat new O-rings to the pressure cap. Install the pressure cap.

7. Run the engine at 1500 rpm, A/C off, until the cooling fans operate. Turn on the A/C to maximum heat and check that heat is coming from the heater vents in the vehicle.
8. Stop the engine. Allow the system to cool (approximately 30 minutes). Remove the cap from the header tank and top up the coolant as necessary. Reinstall the pressure cap.
9. Remove the paintwork protection sheets and close the engine cover.
