Caliper - Standard Brakes

Removal, Front Caliper





1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove the caliper retaining spring (arrow).





3. Unscrew the caliper feed hose (1).
4. Remove the feed hose. Install suitable plugs (2) to the feed hose and caliper.





5. Remove the caliper guide pin covers (1).
6. Unscrew the guide pins (2), remove the caliper (3) from the carrier.





7. Remove the brake pads (arrows) from the caliper.





8. Unscrew the carrier securing bolts (1).
9. Remove the carrier (2) from the vertical link.
10. Carefully remove brake dust from the brake caliper, carrier, wheel, wheel hub and rotor.

WARNING: Brake dust can, if inhaled, damage your health. always use a vacuum brush to remove dry brake lining dust. never use an air line.

Installation





1. Install the caliper carrier on the vertical link.
2. Align the carrier and vertical bolt holes (1).
3. Install the carrier securing bolts (2) and tighten to 120-160 Nm.





3. Ensure that the caliper piston (1) is fully retracted, install the brake pads (2) in the caliper.





4. Install the caliper on the carrier, align the guide pin holes (1).
5. Install the guide pins and tighten to specification 25-30 Nm.
6. Install and fully seat the guide pin covers.





7. Remove the plugs (1) from the feed hose and caliper.
8. Align and install the feed hose to the caliper and tighten to 10-15 Nm.
9. Install and fully seat the caliper retaining spring.
10. Install the wheel and tire assembly, tighten to [1].
11. Bleed the ABS hydraulic system.

Steel wheel 68-82 Nm (50-60 ft lb)
