Installation

1. Position the new headlining to the convertible-top frame.

2. Insert the flange at the rear edge of the headlining into the rear bow-rail retaining slot.

3. Feed the headlining rear tension cables through the piping in the headlining.

4. Insert the rear tension cables into the frame, install the retaining bushes to the cables and seat the bushes into the frame.

Note:
To prevent damaging the headlining, apply adhesive tape to the feed end of the center bow-rail before inserting it into the headlining.

5. Ensuring the correct orientation of the center bow-rail, feed the bow-rail into the headlining.

6. Lower the convertible-top to the halfway position.





7. Align the center bow-rail to the frame, and secure the bow-rail to the frame with pop-rivets (Illustration 16).

Note:
To prevent damaging the headlining, apply adhesive tape to the feed end of the front bow-rail before inserting it into the headlining.

8. Cut slits along the front bow-rail piping to accommodate the tension cords and straps.

9. Making sure that the tension cords and straps are not twisted, position the cords and straps to the relevant slits in the front bow-rail piping.

10. Ensuring the correct orientation of the front bow-rail, feed the bow-rail into the headlining, while also threading the tension cords and straps onto the bow-rail through the slits in the piping.

11. Align the front bow-rail to the frame and secure the bow-rail to the frame with pop-rivets.

12. Using a suitable draw wire (welding rod) pull the outer tension cords through the piping in the headlining.

13. Align the outer tension cords to the convertible-top frame, and pop-rivet the cords to the frame.

14. Position the convertible-top in the fully raised position.

15. Align the rear of the headlining, and using a sharp pointed tool, pierce the headlining through the existing pop-rivet holes in the retaining brackets.

16. Secure the rear of the headlining to the brackets with pop-rivets.

17. Remove the backing from the Velcro strips and secure the strips to the pull-down handle aperture.

18. Feed the trim material from the headlining into the pull-down aperture and attach it to the Velcro strips.

19. Insert the headlining fir-tree fasteners into the retaining holes in the frame.

20. Remove the backing from the double-sided tape at the front of the headlining, and align and secure the headlining to the frame.

21. Align the padding bag to the frame.

22. Install the padding bag outer "P"-clips, and secure all the "P"-clips to the frame with retaining screws.

23. Apply adhesive to the front of the padding bag and frame and glue the bag to the frame (see adhesive packaging for bonding instructions).

24. Align the exterior cover to the frame.

25. Lower the convertible-top to the halfway position.

26. Connect the exterior cover's side tension cables to the frame.

27. Apply adhesive to the front edge of the exterior cover and frame, and glue the exterior cover to the frame (see adhesive packaging for bonding instructions).

28. Locate the exterior cover's front stiffener rod into the retaining slots in the frame.

29. Install the header plate, and secure with screws.

30. Install both latch guide-pins, and secure with screws.

31. Install the latch striker, and secure with screws.





32. Install LH and RH cantrail seal carriers to the frame, and finger tighten the screws (Illustration 17).

33. Position cantrail seal carriers as far to the outer edge of the frame as the carrier's elongated holes will permit, and fully tighten the screws.

34. Install LH and RH cantrail seals into their carriers, and secure with screws.

35. Connect the battery negative cable.

36. Rotate the tap on the convertible-top operating pump to electrical control position.

37. Power the convertible-top to the latched position, but leave the rear quarter lights open.

38. Apply adhesive to the main-column areas of the exterior cover and frame, and align and glue the cover to the frame (see adhesive packaging for bonding instructions).

39. Power the convertible-top to the halfway position.





40. Install LH and RH main-column seal carriers, and finger tighten the screws (Illustration 18).

41. Position the main-column seal carriers as far to the outer edge of the frame as the carrier's elongated holes will permit, and fully tighten the screws.

42. Install and align the main-column seals into their carriers.

43. Power the convertible-top to the fully latched position.

44. Align the headlining and install both rear tensioning rods.

45. Align the headlining to the main-column brackets and secure with screws.

46. Raise and lower the convertible-top to ensure that it functions correctly.

47. Install the squab-panel support bracket and secure with nuts.

48. Position both speaker assemblies in the vehicle and secure with nuts.

49. Connect the security antenna fasteners to the speaker assemblies.

50. Connect the hamess connectors to the speaker assemblies.

51. Install both rear quarter casings.

57. Route the rear backlight harness and connect the harness connectors to the backlight heater.

58. Install the roof compartment carpet.
