Wiper and Washer Systems: Service and Repair
CAUTION: Always disconnect the battery ground lead before commencing with any instrument renewal procedures.
- On renewing the wind screen/headlamp power wash reservoir, ensure that a new screen wash pump seal and a filler neck seal are fitted and seated correctly.
- To minimize the formation of deposits affecting the operation of the system, a solution of soft water containing the correct amount of by the manufacturer specified cleaning fluid must be used to fill the reservoir.
- When refitting the powerwash jet, ensure that the lip on the upper portion of the jet is positioned under the upper edge of the aperture and that the rubber gasket is correctly seated against the jet assembly.
- Jack up the front of the vehicle on to two jacking points for the removal of reservoir, headlamp power wash jets and screen wash jet ambient temperature sensor.
- Prior to removing any electrically and mechanically linked components, ensure that all relevant links to the wipe/wash equipment are disconnected.
