VIN Stamping in Trunk- Revised Location
ISSUE:
The location of the VIN stamping in the trunk was changed starting with VIN 764048.
The number was previously stamped on the area of the floor between the battery and the spare tire. The revised location is on the vertical face, adjacent to the battery.
The primary location for the VIN is shown in Illustration 1. A secondary location is available in the event the primary stamping needs to be obliterated during vehicle production.
NOTE:
The format of the trunk VIN is slightly different from the windshield VIN which conforms to federal standards. For an explanation of the trunk VIN, refer to frame B05 on the parts microfiche or the introduction of the electronic parts catalog.
