Starter Motor: Service and Repair
1. Disarm airbag as described under ``Airbag System Disarming.''2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove right downpipe catalytic converter.
4. Remove sealing olives, then remove steering rack heat shield.
5. Reposition starter main terminal post rubber boot. This will allow access to main starter terminal securing nut.
6. Remove main starter terminal securing nut and disconnect leads from terminal.
7. Remove starter motor solenoid energizing lead securing screw.
8. Disconnect lead from solenoid.
9. Remove starter motor securing bolts, then remove starter motor.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Torque starter motor mounting bolts to 24-31 ft. lbs.
