Fuel Rail: Service and Repair

- Open the luggage compartment and displace the right-hand front side liner.
- Displace the fuel pump relay (silver relay on black / yellow base) from mounting at rear of hockey stick panel and remove the relay.
- Crank the engine to depressurize the fuel system.
- Reposition the relay and trim liner.
- Disconnect the vehicle battery.
- Open the bonnet and fit wing protection.
- Position suitable cloth to catch possible fuel residue.





- Release the union nut and disconnect the fuel feed hose from the fuel rail (2 Fig. 1).
- Release the hose retaining "P" clips.
- Fit blanking plugs to the fuel feed hose and fuel rail.
- Undo the fuel rail to pressure regulator union nut (3 Fig. 1).
- Slacken the nut securing the pressure regulator to the mounting bracket (4 Fig. 1).
- Reposition the regulator from the rail mounting.
- Fit blanking plugs to the regulator and the rail.
- Disconnect the harness multi-plugs from fuel injectors.
- Remove the four bolts (5 Fig. 1) securing the fuel rail.
- Remove the fuel rail and injector assembly.
- Fit blanking plugs to the intake manifold.
- Withdraw the clips (6 Fig. 1) securing the injectors (7 Fig. 1) and remove the injectors from the rail.
- Remove and discard injector O-rings.
- Fit and lubricate new O-ring seals and reverse the above procedure when refitting the fuel rail assembly.
