Alternator: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove anti-roll bar brackets to front securing beam securing bolts.
3. Remove brackets from anti-roll bar bushings, then reposition anti-roll bar for access.
4. Remove power assist steering (PAS) feed hose to engine securing screw, then set aside for access.
5. Loosen alternator link arm adjusting nut, then remove link arm trunnion to engine securing bolt.
6. Remove alternator link arm/trunnion assembly.
7. Loosen alternator pivot nut and bolt, then remove alternator drive belt from pulley.
8. Remove pivot nut and bolt, then position alternator for access to main terminal post.
9. Remove main lead "P" clips to alternator securing nuts, then "P" clips from alternator studs.
10. Remove main lead to alternator terminal securing nut, then disconnect main lead from alternator securing post.
11. Disconnect indicator lead multi-plug from alternator and remove alternator between anti-roll bar and radiator.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
