Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair
Throttle Cable:
1. Disconnect inner cable end from linkage bellcrank on top of engine.
Throttle Linkage:
2. Remove cable housing locknut and remove cable from pedestal.
Throttle Pedal:
3. Remove carpet from around throttle pedal and remove cotter pin and clevis pin.
4. Disconnect cable from pedal.
Throttle Cable Plate:
5. In engine compartment, reposition air chamber drain tube.
6. Remove screw securing water pipe to body, just below throttle cable firewall plate, and reposition pipe.
7. Remove bolts securing firewall plate. Lower left position has retaining nut.
8. Remove cable and plate assembly from firewall.
9. Remove cotter pin and disconnect cable from arm.
10. Remove cable from plate.
11. Fit new cable to plate and reconnect arm.
12. Align assembly and fit to firewall. Be sure connecting rod passes into footwell.
13. Fasten plate to firewall.
14. Refit rod to pedal.
15. Refit cable housing to throttle pedestal.
16. Fit inner cable end to bellcrank.
17. Adjust cable housing to remove slack from inner cable.
18. Tighten locknut.
