Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Mechanical: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove left-hand air cleaner element.
2. Remove extra air valve.
3. Fully close idle speed adjustment screw.
4. Immerse extra air valve bulb in a container of boiling water and observe valve head through side port. Valve should move smoothly to the closed position.
5. Quickly blow through side port; no air should pass.
6. Allow valve bulb to cool. Valve head should move smoothly back to open main air passage.
7. If valve performance is satisfactory, reset idle speed adjustment screw and reinstall valve.
8. If valve performance is not satisfactory, replace component.
9. Install left-hand air cleaner element.
