Idle Speed: Adjustments
1. Be sure engine is at operating temperature.2. Check throttle linkage for correct adjustment and operation.
NOTE: Proper throttle linkage adjustment is crucial for correct operation and idle speed adjustment. Be sure to check it carefully.
3. Start engine. Run for 2-3 minutes.
Auxiliary Air Valve:
4. With all accessories OFF, adjust idle air screw on Extra Air Valve, to achieve:
750 RPM
NOTE: If unable to reduce idle speed, check the following:
a. Ignition timing mechanical advance mechanism for sticking operation.
b. ALL pipes and hoses connected to or associated with intake manifolds, for security or vacuum leaks.
c. Overrun valves for vacuum leakage.
d. Injectors for vacuum leaks.
e. Intake manifold mounting bolts for tightness.
f. Throttle body joints for vacuum leaks.
5. If above operations do not reduce idle speed, check operation of supplementary air valve.
