Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
In event of collision, the switch will de-energize main relay. This safety feature shuts off power to the ECM, injectors and fuel pump relay.

OPERATION
The switch is a gravity activated safety device sensitive to impact forces. When subject to sufficient G-force, as in a collision, the switch opens, interrupting power to fuel injection system.

If the inertia switch is tripped, a plunger on top of the switch pops up. To reset, depress plunger.
