DTC P1493 Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Control Module Driver Overtemperature

Description

The DEF control module actuates the DEF injector, the DEF pump motor, the DEF reverting valve and the DEF heater pump motor valve by controlling the control module internal driver circuits. The DEF control module monitors the temperature of each driver circuit and if an excessively high temperature condition for a certain length of time, this DTC will set in order to record a history.

Condition for Running the DTC

- The ignition switch is ON.

Condition for Setting the DTC

- The DEF control module detects an excessively high temperature condition in its internal actuator driver circuit.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

- Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Conditions for Clearing the DTC - Type D.

Diagnostic Aids

- If an intermittent condition is suspected, refer to Intermittent Conditions in this section.

This DTC is run in order to record history data. Even if P1493 is a current DTC, it does not affect any performance and DEF control module replacement is NOT required.
