Electric Park Lock Module

Disassembly Procedure

Tools Required

- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
- J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin

1. Insert J 42640 into the lower shroud.




2. Put the steering column and J 41352 into a vise.




3. Use a small screwdriver to pull the filler plug out of the bottom of the lower shroud.




4. Insert the small screwdriver into the filler plug hole in the bottom of the lower shroud.
5. Use the screwdriver to push up on the manual override of the electric park lock (1).
6. Insert the key into the ignition.
7. Turn the key to the lock position. Remove the key.




8. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (1) from the lower shroud (2).




9. Remove the lower shroud from the upper shroud in the following way:
1. Tilt the lower shroud down.
2. Slide the lower shroud backward in order to disengage the locking tabs.




10. Remove the 2 torx head screws (1) from the upper shroud (2).
11. Remove the upper shroud (2) from the steering column.




12. Remove the black connector (2) from the electric park lock (1).




13. Pry the electric park lock (2) off of the lock module assembly (1).

Assembly Procedure

Tools Required

- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
- J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin




1. Snap the electric park lock (2) onto the lock module assembly (1).




2. Install the black connector (2) into the electric park lock (1).




3. Install the upper shroud (2) onto the steering column.
4. Screw the 2 torx head screws (1) into the upper shroud (2).
Tighten
Tighten the 2 torx head screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in).




5. Install the lower shroud onto the upper shroud in the following way:
1. Match the tab slots on the lower shroud with the locking tabs on the upper shroud.
2. Tilt the lower shroud up.
3. Slide the lower forward until the locking tabs snap into the tab slots.




6. Screw the 2 pan head tapping screws (1) into the lower shroud (2).
Tighten
Tighten the 2 pan head tapping screws to 3.5 N.m(31 lb in).




7. Remove the steering column and J 41352 from the vise.
8. Remove J 42640 from the lower shroud.
