Disassembly Procedure

1. Remove the upper and lower shrouds.




2. Remove the wire harness straps (2) from the steering column and the wire harness assembly (1).
3. Disconnect the SRS coil assembly connector from the turn signal switch assembly connector.




4. Remove the snap ring (3) from the steering shaft assembly by using snap ring pliers.
5. Remove the SRS coil assembly (2) from the steering shaft assembly.
6. Remove the wave washer (1) from the steering shaft assembly.

Assembly Procedure

1. Align the block tooth on the steering shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o'clock position.




2. Place the ignition switch in the "lock" position.




3. Install the wave washer (1) onto the steering shaft assembly (2).

Important: The new SRS coil assembly will be pre-centered. Do not remove the centering tab from the new SRS coil assembly until the installation is complete.




4. Align the SRS coil assembly (4) with the horn tower on the turn signal cancel cam assembly (1).
5. Slide the new SRS coil assembly (4) onto the steering shaft assembly (2).
6. Firmly seat the snap ring (3) into the groove on the steering shaft assembly (2).




7. Remove the centering tab from the new SRS coil assembly (4).
8. Discard the centering tab.
9. Reconnect the SRS coil assembly connector to the turn signal switch assembly connector.
10. Attach new wire harness straps (2) to the wire harness assembly (1) and the steering column.
11. Install the upper and lower shrouds.
