Evaporator Drain Tube: Service and Repair
Evaporator Tube ReplacementCAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the system.
3. Remove the evaporator tube clip screw.
4. Remove the evaporator tube clip from the accumulator.
5. Remove the evaporator tube from the evaporator.
6. Remove the O-ring seal.
7. Remove the evaporator tube from the condenser.
8. Remove the O-ring seal.
Installation Procedure
1. Install a new O-ring seal.
Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Note in Service Precautions.
2. Install the evaporator tube to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the evaporator tube to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
3. Install a new O-ring seal.
Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
4. Install the evaporator tube to the evaporator.
Tighten
Tighten the evaporator tube to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Install the evaporator tube clip to the accumulator.
6. Install the evaporator tube clip screw.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).
7. Connect the battery negative cable.
8. Add refrigerant to the system.
9. Inspect the system for leaks.
