Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the system.
3. Remove the electrical connectors from the pressure cycling switch.
4. Remove the evaporator and accumulator hose assembly.




5. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the accumulator.
6. Remove the O-ring seals.




7. Remove the accumulator clamp bolt.
8. Remove the accumulator.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the accumulator into the accumulator clamp.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Note in Service Precautions.

2. Install the accumulator clamp bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the accumulator clamp bolt to 10 N.m (8 lb ft)




3. Install new O-ring seals.
4. Install the compressor and condenser hose assembly to the accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the compressor and condenser hose to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).

5. Install the evaporator and accumulator hose to the accumulator.
6. Connect the electrical connectors to the pressure cycling switch.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
8. Add refrigerant to the system.
9. Inspect the system for leaks.
