Service Information

The TBI unit repair procedures cover component replacement with the unit on the vehicle. However, throttle body replacement requires that the complete unit be removed from the engine.
An eight digit part identification number is stamped on the throttle body . Refer to this number if servicing or part replacement is required. Refer to the disassembled view for identification of parts during repair procedures.

CAUTION:
- To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury, relieve the fuel system pressure before servicing fuel system components.
- After relieving system pressure, small amount of fuel may be released when servicing fuel lines or connections. To reduce the chance of personal injury, cover fuel line fittings with a shop towel before disconnecting, to catch any fuel that may leak out. Place the towel in an approved container when disconnect is completed.
