Electronically Erasable Programmable ROM Replacement

REMOVAL
1. Remove Engine Control Module (ECM) access cover.

2. Remove EEPROM using removal tool shown. Grasp the EEPROM carrier at the narrow end only. Rock the carrier from end to end while applying a firm upward force.

INSPECTION AND REPAIR
- Inspect reference end of the EEPROM carrier and carefully set aside. Do not remove EEPROM from the carrier to confirm EEPROM correctness.

INSTALLATION
1. Install EEPROM. If a service EEPROM is being installed, make sure it has the same part number as the removed EEPROM. Do not press on the EEPROM - only the carrier.
Small notch of the carrier must be aligned with small notch socket. Press on EEPROM carrier until it is firmly seated in the socket.
2. Install ECM access cover.
3. Install ECM in back in proper location and perform a "Diagnostic Circuit Check" to confirm proper installation.
