Ignition Cable: Service and Repair





REMOVAL
Left Side
1. Remove the spark plug wire brackets from cylinder head cover fixing studs.
2. Remove the spark plug wires from spark plug and distributor

Right Side
1. Remove the spark plug wire brackets from cylinder head cover fixing studs.
2. Remove the ignition coil bracket from cylinder head.

INSPECTION AND REPAIR
Check the spark plug wires for broken insulation. Check the terminals for corrosion or damage. Replace if necessary.





Measurement of spark plug wire resistance Measure spark plug wires for resistance and replace the wires if the resistance deviates from the specified value.





NOTE:
- The wires contain a synthetic conductor which will be damaged if the wires are stretched or kinked. Piercing the wire with a needle or the pointed end of the probe during the timing check will cause an increase in resistance at that point. This will result in cable burning.
