Owner Letter

DEAR ISUZU RODEO OR PICKUP OWNER:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Isuzu Motors Limited has agreed to conduct a recall on all 1991 Rodeo and 1990-91 SIA-built Pickup vehicles equipped with Takata seat belts.

WHAT IS THE DEFECT?

These vehicles may exhibit a condition in which the driver and/or passenger front seat belt buckle release button chips or cracks. If the release button chips, pieces could fall into the buckle, which could prevent the buckle from latching or unlatching properly. The repairs only involve the driver and passenger front seat belt buckles, and not the front center or rear seat belt buckles.

WHAT WE WILL DO

To correct this condition, your Isuzu dealer will inspect the driver and passenger front seat belt buckles, and depending on results, will install either seat belt guides or new release buttons. This service will be performed for you at no charge.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Please contact your local Isuzu dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date. Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your dealer and they will order the necessary parts based on your vehicle's interior color. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much time will be needed to schedule and process your vehicle. Presentation of this letter to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time. Please have your dealer refer to Campaign Bulletin SB95-11-L005. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid reply card and returning it to us.

Your Isuzu dealer is best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to ensure that your vehicle is corrected as promptly as possible. If, however, you take your vehicle to your dealer on the agreed service date, and they do not remedy this condition on that date or within five (5) days, we recommend that you contact the appropriate Isuzu Regional office listed in the back of the Owner's Manual or the National Customer Relations Office, American Isuzu Motors Inc., P.O. Box 995, Whittier, CA 90608-0995, or call the Isuzu Care Team Line at 1-800-643-4070. After contacting your dealer, Regional Office, National Office, or the Isuzu Care Team, if you are still not satisfied that we have done our best to remedy this condition without charge and within a reasonable time, you may wish to write the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 400 Seventh Street S.W., Washington, D.C. 20590; or call 1-800-424-9393 (Washington D.C. residents can call 366-0123).

We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, in the interest of your safety, it is very important that your vehicle be returned to your Isuzu dealer as soon as possible for repair.

IMPORTANT:
If you have sold or traded your Isuzu vehicle, please enter the owner's name and address, if known, on the enclosed "Change of Information" postcard and drop it in the mail. Postage has already been paid. We will contact the new owner.
