Removal and Installation




BRAKE PEDAL

Removal and Installation


REMOVAL

1.Remove instrument lower panel LH. Refer to "A/T MODELS : Exploded View" Exploded View A/T Models (A/T), "M/T
MODELS : Exploded View" (M/T).
2.Remove steering column assembly. Refer to "WITHOUT ELECTRIC MOTOR : Exploded View" Exploded View
(without electric motor), "WITH ELECTRIC MOTOR : Exploded View" Exploded View (with electric motor).
3.Disconnect the stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch harness connectors.
4.Disconnect the brake pedal stroke sensor harness connector. (With pre-crash seat belt)

CAUTION:
Never removing brake pedal stroke sensor. (With pre-crash seat belt)
5.Turn the stop lamp switch counterclockwise to remove the stop lamp switch.
6.Loosen the lock nut for the ASCD brake switch and remove the ASCD brake switch.





7.Remove snap pin (1) and clevis pin (2) from clevis of brake booster.
8.Remove the cowl top. Refer to "Exploded View" Exploded View.
9.Remove the instrument panel. Refer to "A/T MODELS : Exploded View" Exploded View A/T Models (A/T), "M/T MODELS : Exploded View" Exploded View M/T Models
(M/T).
10.Slide the steering member rearward. Refer to "Exploded View" Exploded View.
11.Remove the brake pedal assembly.

INSTALLATION

Note the following, and install in the reverse order of removal.
- Apply the multi-purpose grease to the clevis pin and the mating faces. (Not necessary if grease has been already applied)
NOTE:
The clevis pin may be inserted in either direction.
