POP-UP ROLL BAR
Removal and Installation
WARNING:
- Before servicing, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect battery negative terminal and wait 3 minutes or more.
- Never use the air tools or the electric tools for servicing.
- When repairing, removing and installing pop-up roll bar, always refer to SRS AIR BAG and SRS AIR
BAG CONTROL SYSTEM.
REMOVAL
1.Open the roof.
2.Remove the rear seat cushion, rear seatback and rear seat back cover. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
3.Remove the rear woofer. Refer to "Removal and Installation" With Navigation.
4.Disconnect the pop-up roll bar assembly harness connector (A).
5.Remove the pop-up roll bar assembly mounting bolts (A).
NOTE:
If pop-up roll bar removal is still impossible after removing mounting bolts, pop-up roll bar can be removed when special bolts (A) are removed using a hexagon wrench (B).
CAUTION:
Be careful that special bolt is left-hand thread.
6.Pull up the pop-up roll bar assembly, and then remove the pop-up roll bar assembly.
CAUTION:
- Always place the pop-up roll bar assembly with special bolts side facing upward.
- Never place any object in deploying path of pop-up roll bar assembly. Never lean pop-up roll bar assembly against a wall or others.
- Never impact the pop-up roll bar assembly.
- Replace the pop-up roll bar assembly if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.
- Never insert any foreign objects (screwdriver, etc.) into the pop-up roll bar assembly.
- Never disassemble the pop-up roll bar assembly.
- Never expose the pop-up roll bar assembly to temperatures exceeding 90�C (194�F).
- Never allow oil, grease, detergent, or water to come in contact with the pop-up roll bar assembly.
INSTALLATION
Note the following items, and then install in the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION:
- Never use the old bolts and special bolts after removal, replace with the new bolts and special bolts.
- Never damage the harness while installing.
- If malfunction is detected by the air bag warning lamp, after repair or replacement of the malfunctioning parts, reset the memory using self-diagnosis or CONSULT. Refer to "CONSULT Function" Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
- After the work is completed, check that no system malfunction is detected by air bag warning lamp.
Removal When Pop-up Roll Bar is Activated While Roof is Closed
REMOVAL
1.Before servicing, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect battery negative terminal and wait 3 minutes or more.
2.Remove the rear seat cushion, rear seatback and rear seat back cover. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
3.Remove the rear woofer (LH/RH). Refer to "Removal and Installation" With Navigation.
4.Disconnect the pop-up roll bar assembly harness connector (A).
5.Remove the spring guide and spring (2) so that pressure load to bar (1) is eliminated.
NOTE:
Spring guide can be removed by pulling upward.
6.Remove the pop-up roll bar assembly mounting bolts (A).
7.Pull up pop-up roll bar assembly, and then disengage metal clips (A).
8.Slide down the pop-up roll bar assembly as shown by the arrow in the figure.
9.Open the roof.
10.Pull up and remove the pop-up roll bar assembly.
