INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY

A/T MODELS : Removal and Installation


WORK STEP

When removing instrument panel assembly, combination meter, AV control unit, center console assembly take steps in the order shown by the number below.






WARNING:
Before servicing, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect battery negative terminal and wait 3 minutes or more.

CAUTION:
When removing, always use a remover tool that is made of plastic.

REMOVAL

1.Remove selector lever knob. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
2.Remove instrument finisher E.





1.Insert a remover tool (A) between instrument panel assembly and instrument finisher E, and then disengage pawls and metal clips.
2.Pull back instrument finisher E.

CAUTION:
Apply protective tape (B) on the part to protect from damage.





3.Remove console finisher assembly.





1.Remove pawls from rear of console finisher assembly, and then remove clips of front.
2.Pull console finisher assembly upward to disengage from center console assembly.
3.Disconnect harness connectors.





4.Remove console center finisher.





1.Pull up console center finisher, and disengage pawls.
2.Disconnect harness connectors.





5.Remove console rear finisher.





1.Pull back console rear finisher (1) by using a remover tool (A), then disengage metal clips.
2.Disconnect inside key antenna connector.





6.Remove center console assembly.





1.Remove screws (B) of center console assembly front side with screw driver (A).





2.Remove center console assembly fixing screws (A).
3.Lift up center console assembly back side.
4.Disconnect harness connectors.
7.Remove cluster lid C.





1.Remove cluster lid C fixing screws (A).
2.Pull back cluster lid C (1).
3.Disconnect harness connectors.
8.Remove cluster lid D.





1.Remove cluster lid D fixing screws (A).
2.Pull back cluster lid D (1).
3.Disconnect harness connectors.





9.Remove display unit. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Base Audio.
10.Remove AV control unit. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Base Audio.
11.Remove front body side welt LH. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
12.Remove front pillar garnish LH. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
13.Remove instrument side finisher LH.





1.Insert a remover tool into lower space.
2.Pull the instrument side finisher LH (1) crosswise.





14.Remove instrument lower panel LH.





1.Remove hood opener mounting bolts (A). Refer to "HOOD LOCK CONTROL : Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
2.Remove data link connector fixing screws (B).
3.Pull back instrument lower panel LH (1).
4.Disconnect harness connectors.





15.Remove instrument finisher A.





Pull instrument finisher A (1) upward, and then disengage clips.





16.Remove instrument side panel LH.





1.Remove instrument side panel fixing screws (A).
2.Pull the instrument side panel LH (1) crosswise.





17.Remove driver air bag module. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
18.Remove steering wheel. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
19.Remove steering column covers.
1.Remove steering column front lower cover (1).










2.Remove cluster lid A lower bracket (2).
3.Remove steering column mask (3) and screws.










4.Pull up steering column cover upper (4).
5.Remove steering column side cover RH (5). (with PADDLE SHIFTER)
6.Pull the steering column side cover LH (6) to the left side. (with PADDLE SHIFTER)
7.Disconnect ADP steering switch connector. (with ADP)
8.Remove steering column side cover LH (6).
9.Remove screws, and then remove steering column lower cover (7).
20.Remove spiral cable and steering angle sensor. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
21.Remove combination switch. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
22.Remove paddle switch LH/RH. (with PADDLE SHIFTER) Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
23.Remove cluster lid A (Combination meter).





1.Remove knee protector mounting bolts (A) with power tool, and then remove knee protector (1).





2.Disengage harness cover fixing pawl (B) by using tool (A)
located under the column shaft.
3.Pull down harness cover (1). (with Harness cover)





4.Remove cluster lid A (Combination meter) mounting bolts (A).





5.Disconnect push button ignition switch harness connector (A).
6.Pull back cluster lid A (Combination meter), and disconnect combination meter connectors.
NOTE:
For removal and installation of combination meter, refer to
"Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
24.Remove meter bracket.





Remove meter bracket mounting bolts (A), and then remove meter bracket (1).
25.Remove front defroster grille (LH/RH). Refer to "FRONT DEFROSTER GRILLE : Removal and Installation" Front Defroster Grille.
26.Remove front body side welt RH. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
27.Remove front pillar garnish RH. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
28.Remove instrument side finisher RH.





1.Insert a remover tool into lower space.
2.Pull the instrument side finisher RH (1) crosswise.





29.Remove instrument lower cover.





1.Pull downward, disengaged pawls.
2.Pull back instrument lower cover (1).





30.Remove glove box assembly.
1.Open the glove box.





2.Pull up glove box assembly (1).





3.Remove damper pin (2) of left side.
31.Remove instrument lower panel RH.





1.Remove instrument lower panel RH fixing screws (A) with power tool.
2.Pull back instrument lower panel RH (1).
3.Disconnect harness connector.
32.Remove instrument finisher B.





Pull instrument finisher B (1) upward then disengage clips and pawls.





33.Remove instrument side panel RH.





1.Remove instrument side panel fixing screws (A).
2.Pull the instrument side panel RH (1) crosswise.





34.Remove instrument panel assembly.





1.Disconnect center speaker harness connector (A). (with center speaker)
2.Remove screw (B).





3.Disconnect inside key antenna connector (A) and clip (B)
located under audio unit.





4.Disconnect antenna harness connectors (A) and then remove harness clips.





5.Disconnect passenger air bag module connector. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
6.Remove passenger air bag module mounting bolt. Refer to "Exploded View" Exploded View.
7.Remove defroster nozzle fixing clips (A).
8.Remove screws (B) and bolts (C) with power tool, and then remove instrument panel assembly (1).






CAUTION:
Cover tool with a shop cloth to prevent windshield glass being damaged.
9.Remove instrument panel from passenger door opening portion.

CAUTION:
When removing instrument panel, 2 workers are required so as to prevent it from dropping.
35.Remove the following parts after removing instrument panel assembly.
- Center speaker: Refer to "Removal and Installation" Without Navigation.
- Passenger air bag module: Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
- Side ventilator grille LH/RH: Refer to "SIDE VENTILATOR GRILLE : Removal and Installation" Side Ventilator Grille.
- Inside key antenna: Refer to "INSTRUMENT CENTER : Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
- Combination meter: Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
- Center speaker grille
- Antenna feeder

INSTALLATION

Note the following item, and then install in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTION:
- Never use the steering wheel mounting nut after removal, replace with the new nut.
- Never use the driver air bag module mounting bolts after removal, replace with the new bolts.
- Never use the passenger air bag module mounting bolt after removal, replace with the new bolt.
