Body - Water Leak From The Windshield Header Area

A water leak is coming from the top of the windshield (windshield header area).

The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire REPAIR FLOW CHART as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.





REPAIR FLOW CHART

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Procedure A


1. Open the convertible top to the fully open position.








2. Apply silicone sealer along the entire length of the windshield header (see Figure 1 and 2).

^ Use the sealer listed in the Parts information or equivalent.

^ Apply the sealer between the edge of the header weather-strip and the header.

^ Gently pull the edge of the weather-strip away from the header and squeeze in a small amount of sealer.

^ Apply the sealer along the enter length of the header.

^ Make sure to clean any excess sealer off of the header and weather-strip.

3. Allow the sealer to cure for at least 3 hours with the top open.

NOTE:
Recommended cure time is 24 hours with the top open.

Procedure B

1. Open the convertible top in the fully open position.

2. Remove the roof front finisher.

^ Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) if needed.





3. Remove both roof latches (see Figure 3 and 4).





4. Add one (1) flat washer for each of the three (3) bolts per roof latch (as shown).

^ Do not remove any existing shims.

5. Reinstall both roof latches.





6. Completely close the roof: Make sure the front roof panels leading edge is 1-2 mm (0.04-0.08 inches) below the rear edge of the header (see Figure 5).

6. Reinstall the roof front finisher.
